    THE ISLAND

    OF ISCHIA

Among the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean, Ischia is known worldwide for its beaches, its artistic treasures and its spas.
Ischia is much more than a seaside resort. Of course the sea, the spas, the beaches are the main tourist attractions in the area, but there are really many things to do.
Suffice it to say that the island was the first colony of Magna Grecia, the first outpost chosen by the Greeks in the western Mediterranean basin.
That’s why, together with the Aragonese Castle, the Soccorso and all the other postcards on the island, it is also important to visit the Archaeological Museum of Villa Arbusto in Lacco Ameno.
Ischia was a tourist destination practically unknown to most Italians when in 1951 Angelo Rizzoli, publisher and film producer, arrived in Ischia on his yacht.

In just under 10 years Rizzoli transformed Ischia into an international destination: he invited Hollywood and Italian stars, painters, musicians.
With his magazines he advertised Ischia hotels all over the world and with the film company he made films that made the island famous all over the world, almost an obligatory destination for the “people who mattered” in the 1950s and 1960s. Richard Burton, Liz Taylor, Ava Gardner, Charlie Chaplin, the Dukes of Windsor visited Ischia and were enchanted by it.
In 2018 many scenes from the fiction “Amica geniale” were shot in Ischia, as well as some scenes from the Hollywood film “Men in Black 4” with Chris Hemsworth.
